About Us

The name of this school is "Tokumeikan" which when translated means "The Hall of Bright Virtue". The name has special significance in that what we ultimately hope to achieve in teaching students is to enlighten them to the "virtue" of the Way as it applies not only to the Sword but to other military weapons as well such as the spear, the staff, the naginata, and the bow, among others and to instill in them a sense of honour and humility. Our aim is twofold: to produce practitioners whose technical skill in bujutsu is of the highest caliber and to cultivate in our people a spirit that is sincere and forthright.

Tokumeikan is a group of practitioners dedicated to the study of classical bujutsu and budo and was established in 1994.
