Special Katori Shinto Ryu Intensive - August 4 & 5, 2007 Updated
Tokumeikan was very pleased to host a special intensive seminar in Katori Shinto Ryu with Sozen Larsen Kusano Sensei of Kakudokan (Norway). Participants were treated to two days of sun, fun, drink, and camaraderie. In the midst of this fun, they did learn a lot about Katori Shinto Ryu and enjoyed the wisdom of Sozen Sensei's unique brand of Zen Buddhist philosophy and humour. A truly unforgettable event. “I am a long time student of kendo and iaido. Recently, I participated in a workshop on the basics of Katori Shinto Ryu kenjutsu with Douglas Tong. I was especially impressed with the pleasant and capable manner with which Tong Sensei led the large and diverse group. It was an energizing and fun experience. I am sure that anyone involved in traditional Japanese martial arts or swordsmanship in general will find much of interest in this style which is possibly the oldest koryu (classical school) still in existence.”
