At Tokumeikan, we are tied closely to the Sugino family. We follow their approach to Katori Shinto Ryu. Mr. Tong, the founder of Tokumeikan, was the direct pupil of Master Yoshio Sugino and also of his son, Master Yukihiro Sugino, who is now the headmaster of the Sugino school.

At Tokumeikan, we maintain regular contact with Master Yukihiro Sugino. Our students are welcome at Hombu Dojo and some have made visits there to train with Sugino sensei and his group of wonderful teachers at Sugino sensei’s Yuishinkan Dojo in Kawasaki City (otherwise known as the Sugino Dojo). We are thus a part of the Sugino group of Katori Shinto Ryu practitioners worldwide and represent Sugino sensei in Canada.
